Este curso cubre todas las destrezas del idioma (Gramática/Vocabulario, Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking y Pronunciación) a través de teoría, ejercicios interactivos, ejercicios de refuerzo, juegos de contrarreloj, vídeos sobre acontecimientos cotidianos, revisión y exámenes formales. A quién va dirigido Curso de nivel avanzado apto para alumnos que • han realizado el curso de nivel B2 de 140 horas, o • han aprobado el examen oficial nivel B2 (First Certificate in English) por la Unisidad de Cambridge o • ya disponen de un nivel intermedio alto de inglés, siendo ces de o comprender discursos y conferencias extensos e incluso con líneas argumentales complejas y desconocidas por parte del alumno, o comprender algunas noticias de televisión y películas en las que se habla en un nivel de lengua estándar aunque sea de una variedad de temas y con una amplia gama de tiempos bales, o leer artículos e informes relativos a problemas contemporáneos en los que los autores adoptan posturas abstractas o complejas, o comprender la prosa literaria contemporánea, o participar en una consación con fluidez y espontaneidad, posibilitando la comunicación natural entre discursantes, o presentar descripciones claras y detalladas de una amplia serie de temas, o explicar un punto de vista sobre un tema exponiendo las ventajas y los inconvenientes con un léxico formal o profesional y o escribir redacciones o informes formales y bien estructurados transmitiendo información o proponiendo motivos que apoyen o refuten un punto de visto concreto, utilizando siempre una variedad de tiempos bales. El curso cubre todas las destrezas del idioma: • Expresión oral / Speaking • Expresión escrita / Writing • Comprensión auditiva / Listening • Comprensión lectora / Reading • Pronunciación Unit 1 OBJETIVOS: • Talk about relationships, marriage, and family life. • Discuss the most important issues to consider before getting married. • Talk about the best ways to meet people. • Evaluate the pros and cons of monitoring family members. GRAMÁTICA: • Use conditional sentences without if to hypothesize. • Use wh- clauses as subjects and objects VOCABULARIO: • Binomial expressions with and, or, but (give and take, sooner or later, slowly but surely) • Building synonyms (see – perceive; improve – enhance) INTERACCIÓN ORAL: • Use expressions like in the end and in a word to summarize or finish your points. • Use then and in that case to draw a conclusion from something someone said. Unit 2 OBJETIVOS: • Talk about people and events in history. • Determine what makes a historical event “world-changing.” • Talk about the importance of one’s family history GRAMÁTICA: • Use the perfect infinitive to refer to past time. • Use cleft sentences beginning with It to focus on certain nouns, phrases, and clauses. VOCABULARIO: • Adjective antonyms (lasting – temporary; superfi cial – profound) • Metaphors (sift, bring to life) INTERACCIÓN ORAL: • Use expressions like Let’s not go there to avoid talking about a topic. • Respond with That’s what I’m saying to focus on your viewpoint. Unit 3 OBJETIVOS: • Talk about feats, challenges, and developments in engineering. • Evaluate the priorities in research and development. • Discuss the usefulness of robots. GRAMÁTICA: • Use -e words in talking about unknown people or things. • Use negative adbs (ne, not only) + insion to start a sentence for emphasis. VOCABULARIO: • Vocabulary of engineering projects (erect, install) • bs (interact, determine) INTERACCIÓN ORAL: • Use expressions like given or considering to introduce facts that support your opinions. • Emphasize negative phrases with at all and whatsoe. Unit 4 OBJETIVOS: • Talk about the news, who reports it, and how. • Discuss if speed or accuracy is more important in news reporting. • Evaluate how much you trust what you hear or read in the news. GRAMÁTICA: • Use continuous infinitive forms to report events in progress. • Use the subjunctive to describe what should happen, what is important, and to refer to demands and recommendations. VOCABULARIO: • Noun and b collocations (undergo surgery, contain an oil spill) • Vocabulary to express truth or fiction (ify, fabricate) INTERACCIÓN ORAL: • Highlight topics by putting them at the start or end of what you say. • Use this and these to highlight information and that and those to refer to known information Unit 5 OBJETIVOS: • Talk about whether information is true or not. • Consider how you would handle an emergency. • Talk about white lies and if they’re e acceptable. • Discuss if art forgers are still true artists. GRAMÁTICA: • Use be to to refer to fixed or hypothetical future events. • Use passive b complements. VOCABULARIO: • Idioms and phrasal bs with turn (turn o a new leaf, turn around) • Words in context (lucrative, laborious) INTERACCIÓN ORAL: • Use expressions like That doesn’t seem right to express concerns. • Use to me, to her, etc. to introduce an opinion. Unit 6 OBJETIVOS: • Talk about being independent, the psychology of attraction, and the brain. • Discuss the differences between online and in-person relationships. • Discuss stereotypes. GRAMÁTICA: • Use objects + -ing forms after prepositions and bs. • Use reflexive pronouns — including to add emphasis — and each other / one another. VOCABULARIO: • Phrasal bs (go by, pick up on) • Expressions with be, do, go, have, take (be close to, have to do with) INTERACCIÓN ORAL: • Use expressions like I can see it from both sides and By the same token. • Use to put it + adb to indicate your meaning behind an opinion. más
